C.   Classes

Freshmen:
If you still have 3.5 to 4 yrs before you graduate, sign up for the freshman level class.
Freshman class:  Foundations of the United States Air Force (1 credit hr)
at CU:        AIRR 1010 (fall), 1020 (spring)
at CSM:     AFGN 101 (fall), 102 (spring)
at MSCD:  AFR 1010 (fall), 1020 (spring)
               at DU:        RTC2 1010 (fall), 1020 (spring)
at FRCC:   AIR 101 (fall), 102 (spring)

     Freshman Spring starters:
If you are starting out as a freshman cadet in the Spring, then you'll be taking the 1020 class and be considered an "AS100" during the Spring. The following Fall term, you will be signing up for both the fall freshman class, AIRR 1010, and the fall sophomore class, AIRR 2010; you will be considered an "AS250" during the Fall term because you'll be taking both classes in the same term. The following Spring term, you will only sign up for the Spring sophomore class, and you'll be an "AS200", competing to go to a 4-week Field Training.
For ex, if you're starting AFROTC in Spring 2010 (and were not in the program Fall 2009), then your classification will be:
Spring '10: AS100 - sign up for freshman 1020 spring class
Fall '10: AS250 - sign up for freshman 1010 and sophomore 2010 fall classes
Spring '11: AS200 - sign up for sophomore 2020 spring class

Sophomores:
If you are graduating in three years, sign up for the sophomore level class AND the freshman level class concurrently. You must complete all four years of classes in order to commission. (Exceptions: If you were in JROTC, CAP, or served in the military previously, the Det CC can waive the first year of classes).

Note: You'll have to compete for a Field Training slot amongst your peers. Entering as a sophomore is very competitive because Enrollment Allocations to Field Training are limited. It's certainly possible to be picked up; just understand that it is competitive.
Sophomore Class:  History of the USAF (1 credit hr)
CU Boulder: AIRR 2010 (fall), 2020 (spring)

Field Training is conducted at Maxwell AFB, AL throughout the summer.  Those cadets competing for an Enrollment Allocation for Summer 2012 have until the middle of Jan 2012 to complete all of the following requirements:
          - Pass the Physical Fitness Assessment
          - Be completely in processed, have all forms filled out, and records up-to-date
          - Either have a DoDMERB or MEPs physical exam on file

D.   Juniors/Seniors, Masters, Transfers

  • JUNIORS/SENIORS:   If you are a Junior or Senior student interested in a Commission as an officer in the Air Force, you have two options in seeking a commission:

                                    a) You can push your graduation date far enough forward to allow you to take three years of AFROTC classes. The first year, you will be required to take the freshman and sophomore level classes together.  You must take the junior and senior level leadership classes separately (two years as a junior/senior cadet, are required for the program).
                                    b) You can graduate on time and pursue a commission through OTS instead of ROTC.

  • MASTERS:   If you are a Masters student or are seeking a second undergraduate degree, please see the link below.
                                    Graduate Students and Second degrees.pdf

You will need to take the AFOQT before applying. To schedule an AFOQT (offered at Denver MEPS the 2nd Tuesday of each month),  you must complete the USMEPCOM Form 680 (contact Detachment for form) and  email a scanned copy to the Unit Admissions Officer at Det105@colorado.edu or fax it to 303-492-8353. Write the desired test date at the bottom of the form. On the form, fill out sections A-D, and 1-15, 21, 25.

  • TRANSFER CADETS:  If you are an AFROTC cadet transferring from another detachment, a Navy or Army ROTC cadet transferring to AFROTC, or a Service Academy cadet transferring to AFROTC, see attached guidance:

                                    Academy/ROTC  Tranfer Regulations
