Dear Detachment 105,
Alec Farquhar Littler, 2nd Lieutenant, United States Air Force, (University of Colorado, ‘07), died in a jet training crash on May 1, 2008 at Sheppard Air Force Base in Texas. Alec was a pilot, a mentor and a friend with a warm heart and a wry sense of humor. His commitment to those he loved and the Air Force was unwavering.
In 2003, Alec entered the Air Force through the Air Force ROTC program at Detachment 105, University of Colorado at Boulder. After four years of leadership in Air Force ROTC, Alec achieved his dream of acceptance into the Euro-NATO Joint Jet Pilot Training Program. As part of this elite group, Alec always challenged himself and his flight mates to be their best.
To honor Alec’s memory, the Lieutenant Alec Farquhar Littler Memorial Scholarship Fund has been established. The purpose of this fund is to provide scholarship support for undergraduate students in Air Force ROTC at the University of Colorado at Boulder.
To help support the Lieutenant Alec Farquhar Littler Memorial Scholarship Fund, a challenge grant has been established by Jane Barrett-Long and Greg Long. Their son, 1st Lieutenant Greg Long was a member of Detachment 105 with Alec. For every dollar donated, a match of up to $20,000 will be made. Through your generosity, you can help ensure the Lieutenant Alec Farquhar Littler Memorial Scholarship will be awarded to remember and honor Alec for years to come.
